The blade root that secures the blade consists of a fir-tree profile. The most important geometric characteristics are the contour of this fir-tree profile and the contour of the blade profile measured at several heights. Depending on blade size and application, tolerances range from a few micrometres to 100 µm.
Because of the complex freeform-surface geometry, multisensor metrology combining tactile scanning and 3D CT is advantageous for verifying form deviations and internal defects together.
